No paradise in this earth

Canada is a beautiful country. It is one of the most beautiful places I have been and lived in. I love this country because it is the place I have longed to live in. But there is one thing I would like to share to those wanting and praying hard to live here.

Many of my fellow Filipinos who have seen it in movies or other media presentations think and believe that it is "paradise" on earth. It is not. Canada is a blessed nation compared to the Philippines and other third world countries in terms of economy, government and so on and so forth. But again it is not paradise. Many see Canada as the only hope they can get over the poverty their families are in. Oh yes, those who migrated here can earn much to send back home.

But you know what, living here is difficult. You earn dollars and you spend dollars. Of course when it is sent home it is multiplied and becomes big. But here a dollar is a hard earned dollar. Life indeed is a little lighter here but it doesn't mean not difficult. It is lonely here as the culture here is so individualistic that you rarely see people truly smiling and laughing. Life is so busy here that there is no quality time for families to be together or even go to Church. With these alone Canada is not paradise. There is no paradise here on Earth. Life in a third world country like the Philippines is even better because people may not have enough money to live by, but people laugh and smile from the heart, there is what we can truly call home and family and church, things that make life more meaningful.

very similar to Australia (except your snow over there).

Regarding the smiling & laughing, during my first day of work here, my Austalian workmates thought/suspected that I am psychologically impaired because I kept on smiling everytime I meet them in the hallway. That's what they said, and they only told me about their observation when we became close friends!
